"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.

'I only drink on two occasions, when I'm thirsty and when I'm not'
Brendan Behan
A mate whatsapped me to say the Dodo had a Kernal beer on cask.5.3 pale ale and it was warm and over £6 a pint.this was about a week ago on a Sunday.they shut at.5.00pm and then open again onWed at 5.00pm.so they probably reduce the number of casks as they only had 2 on.I told him I wouldn't be trying it as I have fell out of love with this pub due to restricted hours, more expensive than other local pubs and restricted range of beers.I have been in there a few times when it was practically empty and its soul destroying for the customers as well.
One of the last traditional pubs still employing table service from the Covid lockdowns has moved service back to the bar:

I tend to agree with his customers here, the bar is what makes a pub feel like a pub- going straight to a table just never felt right to me. Although it was an interesting novelty for a few months.
