    Default Missing you guys

The two previous reviews on the pub I was in this afternoon were by Alan Winfield and Ray Frankland. My review is rather curmudgeonly, and seems even more so in comparison with their optimistic and appreciative descriptions.

    The Bulls Head Inn

We can only speak as we find, and a lot of water has passed under the bridge since those two visited Ashford-in-the-Water. And the pub is obviously in different hands than at the time of their visits a decade and a half ago or more. But I do miss those guys.

Always a tinge of sadness when I read reviews from those sadly lost.

They live on through these reviews and our memories. We will all go the same way eventually. All the more reason to enjoy it while we can

I never met Alan, though conversed with him a few times, Ray was, warm friendly and all-round great guy and very missed. It's a rather poignant post coming in the week I lost my dad. All gone but not forgotten and a reminder to us all life is for living so get out there and do it whilst were still able.
While still remembering those who set standards and examples before us.

Doesn't seem curmudgeonly; agree with you about Robinsons beers though, especially Trooper.

Yup. Ray was great company. I too lost my dad (93) 14 days ago; hadn't spoken to him for 30 years and hadn't seen him for 37, but it was still odd watching someone brought up opposite Pentonville Prison having a funeral via Zoom - in Dutch, in Amsterdam.
He was drinking and smoking to the last, quite literally given that he was cremated.
