Plenty of notice for this pub crawl in Frome on Saturday, 8th August - the advance train fares are as yet only available up to Friday 7th! Full details have been posted on the Beer and Pubs Forum, and for CAMRA members on Discourse.

Description, including advice on trains and buses, from Jon Benger:

There are trains to Frome, but they are not particularly frequent, and the station is a bit of a trek from the pubs. I therefore suggest that those travelling longer distance head for Bath Spa by train, and then jump on the D2 bus from Bath Bus Station which runs every hour to Frome Market Place at 10 past the hour, taking 50 minutes.

We will visit a selection of the Blue Boar, Archangel, Three Swans, George, Just Ales, Ship, Griffin, Lamb and Fountain and Royal Oak (which is near a D2 bus stop for journeys back to Bath). Over a mile of walking will be involved and it’s a bit hilly!

Here's a list of the pubs suggested by Jon, in no particular order: https://camra.org.uk/trips/6eb811aa-...d-d2317555ec0f

The pubs in the centre of town are around three-quarters of a mile from the station, but as Jon mentions, there are buses that stop in the town. Three of the pubs are Good Beer Guide listed, and several more have decent beer scores. One of them has particularly scathing reviews on this site.

I'm aiming to get to Frome on a train that gets in at 11:02, so should be at whichever the first pub turns out to be at about 11:20, all being well. (There's a bus at 10:10 which gets into Frome at 11:04 - the bus station in Bath is a short walk from the railway station.)

I hope others from Pubs Galore will join in. (I know that Mick/Moby has already said he intends to make it.)
