I've drafted a first idea for pubs in Lancaster. https://camra.org.uk/trips/c99b82e0-...3-36c992cc10b9 There are 16 pubs, which is too much for me to do in one go, I don't know about anyone else. I'll try to refine it into main course and also rans.
Last year I went to seven pubs in Lancaster, three in July (between trains to and from the Lake District) and four in December (plus one duplicate with July) between heavy showers. These were the Sun, Merchants, Tite & Locke, White Cross, Royal, and Borough (plus one that I won't be going to again and isn't on the draft list).
I did better the previous year, with visits in January, March, August and December, with nine different pubs visited, some of them two or three times. These included the six mentioned for 2025 plus Bobbin, Stonewell Tap and Jailors Barrel.
I've got a pre-crawl trip planned exactly one month before our meet up, on 17th June, when I'll be concentrating on the seven pubs on the list that I've not visited for a while, which is George & Dragon, Three Mariners, Golden Lion, Water Witch, Ring O'Bells, John O'Gaunt and Tap House.
If anyone has any more up to date information or suggestions for pubs that I may have missed, please let me know, preferably by the 16th of June.
Come On You Hatters!
I seem to have found a few people who are willing to mingle with the PuG crowd: one from Grange-over-Sands, one from Crewe, one from Stafford and one from Leicester. Maybe more - it's still a few weeks away. Or maybe less - only one has bought his train ticket, so far. I was going to stay at The Sun, but it has no availability on the week of the crawl. so there may be something on in there.
We quite liked the JDW, it's bland, but it had a good beer range on.
A pub is for life not just for Christmas
There's this: https://lancasterandmorecambebay.com...-on/robin-hood , which is confusingly billed as Tuesdays to Sundays from 17th July to 23rd August. But it means starting 17th July (which is a Friday, as we know) and then every day except Mondays until...
But I don't think that's enough to book out the Sun Hotel. What has Robin Hood got to do with Lancaster anyway?
Is there a graduation ceremony? They're almost every day in Sheffield, it seems.
(I've added the Richard Owen at your prompting. That's 17, so I'll drop the George & Dragon as it's a late opener and out on a limb - and there are a couple that I've omitted in the centre - the Brown Cow and the Penny Bank - that have similar beer scores as some of those that I've put in. We could easily end up with 20 pubs, which is crazy for what is really quite a small city.)
