Next Pubs Galore crawl - Summer 2026

...maybe it's time to consider the next crawl after a very good run in 2025.

Looking back at the 2025 polls some interesting places just missed out.

NORTH -- Newcastle and Lancaster

MIDLANDS -- Newark

SOUTH -- Plymouth and Salisbury

Is there any consensus amongst those ? For the first crawl in 2026 the North/Midlands/South decision is not crucial ,but a Southern crawl in June/July often proves too hot for real ale quality.

So, we did Salisbury in March, leaving a choice of Midlands or North for the summer.

With Halifax, Harrogate and York in recent years it's probably about time we went back to the wrong side of the Pennines for a change! Similarly if we went Midlands, having done Burton, Lincoln and Chesterfield something further West would seem called for.

I would be very happy with Lancaster - any strong views otherwise?

I've been off the beer this year but can offer suggestions from previous crawls I've done: Stockport, Wigan, Preston.

I've been to pubs in Lancaster a lot more recently than implied by "historic"!

Midlands-wise, I have lost track of what the historic list is (does it exist somewhere?), but I don't recall having done these any time in last 10 years with PuG:

Newark
Nottingham
Coventry
Hereford
Bewdley
Worcester

All of those can keep you busy for a day.

I've been to pubs in Lancaster a lot more recently than implied by "historic"!

I think the implication was that we know you were around when some of the more historic buildings were under construction..?

Newark, Coventry, Hereford and Bewdley in that case can be the Midlands list to pick from...
