    Default "According to CAMRA"

So, once again, a pub's status has been incorrectly updated "according to CAMRA". I don't notify status changes on a whim. I do some research and then make the request. I quite honestly can't be bothered to continually check that my change hasn't been incorrectly reversed, so there will be no further status updates from me. If you want to know if a pub is open or not, I'd advise checking on Google Maps, because it's clear that accuracy of information on Pubs Galore is considered secondary to aligning with CAMRA.

Paul I assume it was me who marked this pub as closed?

Due to the sheer volume of opening and closings I sometimes get things wrong.

Which pub are you referring to? I'll check it out for you and change it back.

Thank you for your polite response (I have calmed myself down now ). Head of Steam in Huddersfield is the offender.

I've stopped marking pubs as closed if there are clear signs that they are undergoing renovation with a cited date of completion, otherwise there's a risk of them falling under the radar.
With regard to a pub's attributes, I've frequently found that CAMRA's definitions of what - for example - constitute 'parking' or 'live music' are somewhat subjective; I've given up telling CAMRA that the pub is dog friendly, that televised sport is available and that the Tuesday 7.30 quiz is now held on a Thursday at 8.00; in short, I don't think relying on CAMRA's observations is accurate enough; best to update PuG based on actual experiences or info from their website/Facebook.

It can be frustrating on occasions when you've actually seen a pub re-open, or read a story about in the local press, and then it gets marked as closed again a couple of days later thanks to out of date information from CAMRA. Even Dave's not immune, there was one in Bristol that had been shut for about six years. There was a lot of publicity about it's reopening, he marked it as open, only for it to be shut again a couple of days later!

That said of course, I'm sure Rob's efforts do result in much more accuracy here overall, especially in areas where we are under represented with people on the ground.

At the moment it seems that Rob both requests the update and approves it. Perhaps this should be split out, so that he does the request, but then the approver checks that there has not been a recent update by someone else?

The approver is going to be very busy then. Dave will know the exact numbers, but I reckon I must have closed or opened about 1000 pubs this year so far.

Just going through my London Drinker to update the site and I've spotted several entries that are closed, yet listed as open on What?ub; one venue listed as closed 'long term' is where I had a drink last Saturday.
