    Default Pubsgalore Autumn 2025 Midlands Crawl.

    With Autumn coming into view and with rail & hotel bookings required,it's worth discussing Midland venues.Looking back at past polls,here is a long list to get the ball rolling and to see if there is a strong consensus or whether a poll will be necessary.

    1. Chesterfield .....with the late openers in Brampton start at Chesterfield station,crawl the Brampton mile and bus back
    2. Coventry --- any feed back from Gann about his tour ?
    3. Newark ... tight town centre,enough pubs for a crawl ?
    4. Northampton ... a bit of walking involved even if just concentrating on the town centre.
    5. Peterborough ... recent feed back would be useful,quite a bit of walking last time I visited.
    6. Stafford ... anyone tackled this town ?
    7. Walsall .... maybe now Soupie is onboard again ,he could leads us on a MILD extravaganza !
    8.Wolverhampton --- lots of outlying GBG pubs,knowledge of local bus routes might be needed.

    Any other thoughts ?

    This was the route when a group based on CAMRA's Discourse forum visited Peterborough earlier this year:

    This was my route for Wolverhampton earlier this year:

    * 11:30 to 12:10
    Stile Inn - the number 6 bus from near the station got us to this one
    * 12:30 to 13:05
    Combermere Arms - in the event, this pub turned out to have changed its hours so we went to others nearby
    * 13:25 to 14:00
    Lych Gate Tavern
    * 14:05 to 14:40
    Posada
    * 14:45 to 15:20
    Wheatsheaf
    * 15:30 to 16:10
    Great Western

    Beer quality was very high throughout the day, with the best in the last two pubs.

    I was there in 2022 and again last year, different pubs each time. There are two Black Country Ales pubs and one Titanic, one Joules and a micro called Ship Aground. Beer quality was variable, but I did go to 18 pubs across the two visits. Not sure there's enough quality to be honest.

    I was on this trip, as was Richard, and found some very good pubs, one of which has now sadly closed, a bit of a spread out trip though involving a couple of taxis.

    with the usual "if it's Friday I'm unlikely to attend because some of us actually have to work for a living" caveat, I'd fancy Chesterfield or Cov.

    If Chesterfield doesn't make the cut, I'd happily visit on a Saturday.
