"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
A gentle wander round Otley was the basis of this week's drinking.
Brass Castle - Hazelnut Mild.
Rudgate - Ragnar.
Acorn - Talus IPA.*
Northern Monk - Fresh From.
Kirkstall - Dissolution IPA.*
Titanic - Plum Porter.*
Goose Eye - Bitter.
Acorn - Gorlovka.*
Very little between the Dissolution and the Gorlovka, but the latter just pipped it. Taken at one of my favourite pubs -
The Old Cock
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
Arbor - My Little Sabrony keg

Some good contenders but all was outshone by BOTW Ardgour Gobhar Reamhar ,scoring a straight NBSS 5 at their brewery tap.Described as a dark, dry Irish style stout ,at 6.5% there was a lot going on with a deep finish and some underlying hop bitterness. It's won SIBA awards and is firmly one of my beers of the year.
Next week looks very quiet, probably sensible.

"Beer is food." Morse, Colin Dexter
GK is clearly too ashamed to proudly display its barely visible branding; all becomes clear only after it's too late, the foul concoction tasting like those old cherry Tunes cough sweets , but without the medicinal benefits.
