Is there a policy of not approving photos which show cats, e.g. Railway Tavern and https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23965/

I wouldn't have thought so. https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubpictures/54960/

I've approved at least one cat photo recently, it was better quality than some of the photo's submitted. I would put cat photo's in the same category as pump clips, odd items, windows or notices, all of which are accepted and can add a different perspective. I put in a picture of an interesting fireplace this week which someone else approved.

Reminds me of Mongoosegate.

Like The Nags Head, run by cat fanatic Flossie Parsons; there's a shrine to a cat where you can light a tealight, said cat given a New Orleans-style funeral to the local church.
Indeed. It takes something extraordinary for a photo not to be approved - we've even had views from a pub - rather than of a pub - approved. But there is the suppression facility, so that the photos of the cats, the windows or the interesting fireplace don't appear on the pub summary page.
