    Default Crystal palace.

Doing an overnighter for Crystal Palace soon. Booked a Travelodge near Penge.
Which ones shouldn't I miss out?

Carters . Sounds like a rubbish place but photo and review needed!

More usefully, Southeys Brewery Tap sounds rather better., although not yet made it myself.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

Best options near the ground are Shelverdine Goathouse and The Craft Beer Cabin - both welcome away fans normally, unlike the aforementioned Carters!

I'll second the Southeys Brewery Tap as the best option in Penge - Goldsmiths Arms is usually worth a look too.

The Douglas Fir is a good option if heading up towards Crystal Palace and once you get there, Westow House and The Faber Fox are solid options in an area full of gentrified pubs.

Central Croydon is the best bet for a satisfying crawl - The George (JD Wetherspoon), Dog & Bull, The Royal Standard, Art & Craft CR0, The Oval Tavern and The Builders Arms are all pretty good for different reasons and a little further out is Claret & Ale, which is my local and the best pub in the borough in my opinion.

Normally, I'd offer to meet up and give you a tour but I'm heading down to Brighton that night to watch Bournemouth play at the Amex. It's a shame, as I was sorting through a load of stuff ahead of our house move and found a shoe box full of beer mats that I'd collected over the years and totally forgot existed, so I could've given them to you!

Delboy,I'm going to the match,so please feel free to join up in The George from around 5pm.I can't get there any earlier due to volunteering activities and my sons will be joining once they've finished work. The George is quite close to East Croydon station .lots of trains to Norwood Junction and we will also aim for a cheeky beer in the Craft Beer Cabin just after 7pm and before the 7.30pm kick off.

PSM suggestions are spot on and will help if you are pub crawling around the area.Enjoy the pubs ,and hopefully catch up with you pre match.

Like the look of the Goathouse and the cabin. . I think the opening hours of Southeys might make it awkward for me on match night.

As regards to the mats, I'll happily pay the postage!

Cheers BF. I might try and get into Croydon for a crawl, all depends on who I have to meet up with. If you want to PM me your number I'll try and hook up for at least a couple!
    Which end are you in?
