Default Other opportunities to meet for a beer

I suggested in another thread that it might be a good idea to arrange more than three "official" Pubs Galore crawls each year. One suggestion made in response was that we should be encouraged to post in this thread whenever one of us is planning on going somewhere to do a few pubs to see if anyone would like to join in.

With that in mind, I mention for the benefit of those on this forum who are also CAMRA members that a series of such trips has been under way on Discourse. This is a forum that is only open to CAMRA members. The first such trip was on 26th February, and subsequently a tag was created to enable us to keep track of these: pub-research-trips as I call them.

Future trips are already being planned for Smithfield in London next Thursday, 14th November; Marple and Marple Bridge on 6th December; Leicester on 17th January; Chesterfield on 14th February, and Glasgow on a date yet to be agreed in March.

If anyone reading this is interested, please have a look and join in if you like the idea.

Being from the northeast I accept traveling south even for the northern England group meets, and that there's no chance of Stockton or Boro winning a vote. A crawl I'd do here to hit the best places would be a walk between the towns (Golden Smog, Sun Inn, Chapel, Play Brew, Boro"micros").

...which'd mean at least 4-5 miles of walking.

Looking at the few reviews of Darlington's best spots, I'd be content doing there in December or January. Northallerton or Thirsk too.

    Well done Will.
Enjoy Smithfield on Thursday. I will be in the London Bridge area that day as a group of us are shuffle boarding with a couple in The Shipwrights Arms beforehand and a late lunch in The Barrowboy & Banker afterwards.
I fancy Chesterfield but there is no way I would get planning permission for Valentine’s Day.

I was thinking of putting together a proposal for Coventry as that always falls short of options for a main Midland crawl but there’s probably 6 decent city centre options for a reduced one, but that will have to wait until the second half of Feb at least.

Unfortunately the date of the Smithfield pubs research trip was awkward for me, so I did it solo last week when I had booked trains and hostel for Luton Town's home game against Cardiff City, my first home game of the season, and a rare win for the Hatters.

Well, I don't know. Women will never cease to amaze me. Why would anyone turn down the offer of an all expenses paid trip to Chesterfield? (Shopping optional.)

There must be some other forms of transport? Didn't railways start in the Tees Valley? https://teesvalleymuseums.org/theme/...ngton-railway/

Wouldn't mind doing Darlo again, but the other two are a bit thin. Northallerton AND Thirsk might be interesting.

Or recreate the opening of the Stockton-Darlington Railway with a curated pub crawl?

A few yards from whence the first train started! : https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/89987/
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
