A pub is for life not just for Christmas
The Farmers Arms. I've probably commended this pub before, but I can confirm that it has reopened under Community ownership as a Proper Pub,with all pretence of Gastro-ism an unpleasant memory.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
Lancaster - Stonewell Tap.
The beer was great but it was also about the vibe and music. Walked in to the Buzzcocks, but also had all sorts from Offspring, Idlewild, Clash and similar...
Similar to a craft bar in Hexham I visited a few weeks, they know where their custom is coming from - 40-something blokes with a few quid to spend on better beers than Wetherspoons and want to hear songs from their youth!
20 new pubs this month, with six above average:
The Blue Stoops
The Leyton Engineer
Little Green Dragon
The Nags Head
William the Fourth
POTM goes to Ye Olde Rose & Crown
Favourite of last month was Small Beer, a good buzz and good beer.
"Everybody's got to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer."
-W.C.Fields
The Hackney Carriage
There are some good micros in this part of SE London ,and this was the best IMHO.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Slim pickings as usual, so will have to be the Mullet Man's latest offering – Marlow's Grand Assembly.
"Breakneck speed we drown ten pints of bitter"
