It's a shame the Alfred doesn't open until 17:00, I had it down to visit in tandem with Borough Beer House but prefer an earlier start and finish.

A short break in Staveley (Kendal) was the basis of this week's drinking. With impeccable timing, we arrived the day after the Hawkshead Beer Hall had closed at short notice. Perhaps they knew we were coming.

    Hawkshead - Pale.*
    Eden River - Fuggles.
    Bowness Bay - Swan Blonde.
    Fyne - Jarl.*
Lakes Brew Co - Best Bitter.
    Westmorland - Pale Yan.
    Tigertops - Citraholic.*
    Hawkshead - Mosaic.*
    Barngates - Goodhew's Dry Stout.
    Cumbrian - Loweswater Gold.

A bit of a mixed bag, some very good beers mixed with some quite dull brews. In the end, the Mosaic just pipped the Jarl. Taken in the Eagle & Child Hotel.

    Kent,Surrey.

Tonbridge-Easy Street Pale 3.9%abv.Peppery , herbal Kentish Pale, which I'd previously enjoyed in can format.
Surrey Hills-Shere Drop 4.2%abv.Towards the end of cask, but reliable as ever.
Dorking-Surrey XPA 3.4%abv.Light bodied, lightly hopped hazy session Pale.

    My BOT-,Easy Street.

Very limited week means BOTW goes to Everards Orion by default. Another of their limited editions some of which are very palatable. This was pale, 4.8% and a bit dull.

That's a pity although the E&C is a good backup! I stayed over there once.

I can't think of anywhere else you need to carry your pint across a road to get to the beer garden..

We've stayed in Staveley several times over the last couple of years. and always did the Hawkshead Beer Hall and E&C as a double header, so it was a bit of a shock to the system! Technically, you don't need to cross the road, as there's a beer garden behind the pub. Prefer the riverside, though.
