Here's a radical suggestion: how about doing both?

One on a Friday, one on a Saturday.

The leading date overall is the 1st November.

The leading Saturday is 19th October.

Perhaps someone could do an analysis - from the voting figures - the pleasure gained for maximum number of people if they can go to their chosen venue on their chosen date?

    Or just toss a coin?

    How about it?
That seems an elegant solution Lincoln on Friday !st November and Nottingham on Saturday 19th October ........................ double bubble. Is there need for serious analysis or does this work ?

I similarly would be very unlikely to do both on consecutive days, which means missing out on one or the other. And, not that it worries me, but having two destinations would probably bump up travel costs for some.

How about a quick Decider vote between the two (or the two and both)?

See my earlier message - East Midlands area rail is completely screwed on 19 Oct.

I didn't suggest consecutive days. The idea was to do Nottingham on Saturday, 19th October, and Lincoln on Friday, 1st November. Almost two weeks apart.

Of the eight people who voted for Nottingham, three voted for both dates, three didn't vote for either, and two voted for Friday (one was me, and the other was you, Graham). As it happens, I can do that Saturday. What about you?

Of the eight people who voted for Lincoln, three voted for that Friday, two voted for both dates and two didn't vote for either; which leaves one person who voted for Lincoln but not Friday (sorry, Spinko).

I suggested this because we've done a run-off before now and it is a) tedious and b) uses valuable time while potential cheap train fares become more expensive. If several people feel strongly that it's unfair or undemocratic, we can think again.

Definitely want to do Lincoln on Fri 1st Nov. Have a couple of mates who want to come along too

Sorry, misunderstood. A couple of weeks apart would work for me, but others might have more constraints. The trains are still buggered on 19 Oct though - buses on EMR south of Luton and East Coast Main Line closed at Newark.

Not for me, when travelling up to where ever ( dates not particularly important) I'll be stopping over and doing a double header, two separate trips a couple of weeks apart doesn't make economical sense, travel wise and work wise for me.

Yes, that looks like a bit of a non-starter.

Friday, 18th October seems to be normal service. That date had the same number of votes as the 19th. I was hoping that we might do something for the people who prefer Saturdays, but it seems the railway engineers have decided otherwise.

Just caught up with the discussions. To confirm, is Lincoln on the 1st Nov now set in stone ? or is it still to be ratified depending on the second date?

Not sure it's set, let alone in stone.
