Hexham
Looks like my delayed trip is going ahead this weekend. Any recommendations?

It's got to be the County Hotel. Beer in very good nick when I was there, and Quinno found the same. Hadrian Tyneside Blonde has been a regular on the taps for many years, and they really know how to keep and serve it well.
I would swerve the Heart of Northumberland and try the Tannery, though opinions seem to be divided about the latter.
You may like the Victorian Tap. Same goes for the bar on the station.

Thanks, I'll give the County a go. Always nice to have a choice other than Wetherspoons before noon too. I suspect I'll ale trail it out to Wylam and back one of the days also.

Nice start. Beer and caramel shortbread at the Platform Bar. Next stop Wylam!

...apart from the Boathouse? I've never been, but it used to be in the GBG and won many pub of the year awards, didn't it. Must have been bad to get those big red crosses!

Yes. Very disappointed.
Late to open - hence the other tick in Wylam.
It was just poor throughout. People at the bar were kept waiting so the "landlord" (?) could finish blowing leaves away. I'm not joking - this was deemed more important.
He then thought conversation about finances were more important still with lady who wanted a coffee.
All very bizarre. The beer was ok but wanted to get out for the next stopper train as soon as I could. Oh, and very poor language from the landlord too. I don't get it.

CorbridAttachment 2895ge was magnificent though.
