    Two beers are clear of the pack this week and both taken in The Rake, Anspach and Hobday The Smoked Brown beaten only by The Kernel Dry Stout Ella, fantastic on cask and BOTW.

    BOTW Hop Back Summer Lightening. Haven't had this for a while and I'd forgotten how good it is. In superb condition it easily passed the 3 pint test and was very difficult to keep in the glass.

    A fairly quiet week. BOTW is the ever-reliable Milk Stout, brewed on the premises, at The Calder Vale Hotel.

    Earl Soham-Victoria Bitter: 3.6%abv. Proper old school bitter,luscious malt,dried grass.
    Thornbridge-AM:PM:4.5%abv.Tropical fruit, honey from the malt.
    Barsham-Barsham Oaks: 3.6%abv.Mid brown, berries,some earthiness from the home of a leading grower of malting barley.
    Barsham-Eastern Gold:4.5%abv.Substantial gold 'un.
    Lacons-First Light:4.5%abv.Soft Pale Ale.Summer fruits.
    Moon Gazer:Pintail:3.9%abv. Reedy,golden,gluten free.
