I've written a book about the pub trade. here's the press release, which contains all the info.
Press Release Subject: Book Launch - Diary of a Publican – Memoir Release Date: 11th November 2021 Publisher: SNB Publishing Ltd, Liverpool Availability: For sale on Amazon and in Leicester's best pubs and bbokshops
Description: Diary of a Publican covers a year in Kieran’s life at The Blue Boar, a specialist alehouse in Leicester that he opened in 2016, after working in the industry all his life. This diary of the events of 2020, written by a man trying to sell beer throughout a pandemic, provides wry reflections on the trade, trying to follow the ever-changing rules and of course, the customers - where else would you be introduced to Steel Guitar Dave, Arthur Bitter, Sleepy Phil and Lee the Leg to name but four? This engaging book will appeal to anyone who has ever worked in customer service, is interested in pub life and beer culture, or is just curious about how bar staff view the people they serve.
A note from the Author: I have written what I hope is an honest account of pub life, especially on the subject of our relationship to drink, which turned into a bit of a theme. I also use it as a platform to express my ideas, and sometimes frustrations, about the pub trade and the drinks industry. Mainly though, it is the story of a year as seen from behind the bar, plus a bit of my personal life, including anecdotes from my career. I am excited and feel very lucky to be having my book published. As a first time author, I found the publishing world to be a bit of a closed shop, and so took a chance and put an advert in the back of Private Eye. I had one response, from SNB Publishing, and I am glad we found each other because I have had a brilliant experience with them, getting the book ready for publication. They are not the biggest, but have been the best for me.
