Hi Everyone
Planning a visit to York next week, and would welcome any suggestions of a nearby town/village to visit with good pubs and beer, maybe a bus ride out of York?
Any suggestions would be very welcome!
Cheers

Pocklington might be a possibility. It's a bus ride away.
You've done Harrogate & Knaresborough but there's Malton not great but easy to get to by train. Least attractive are probably Tadcaster, Thirsk, Easingwold and Northallerton. You could try a tour of some of the suburbs, Acomb perhaps? Bit of an unknown territory, most pubs only have a review from Alan Winfield.
There's a lot of very nice village pubs around, but usually only one per village. Of the few multiple places, Bishopsthorpe is not bad, the Upper and Nether Poppleton pubs are pretty good but a little way between (and ignoring the Beefeater), while Fulford has good opportunities for a circular crawl using the Millennium bridge.
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
Many thanks to you both, some good ideas there. York never disappoints anyway, really looking forward to visiting some old favourites too...
