The current Guinness obsession is tiresome, but I have to admit their marketing is brilliant. There is a big trend with young people around “old mans pubs” and drinking Guinness in them, shame if real ale can’t steal some of that momentum.

I've noticed this. Probably because people are sick of identikit Titmouse Blue pubs and are looking for authenticity.

Highly unlikely I would have thought.

Probably could do if someone - other than Reading's Nags - would have the brains to market small batch cask as 'craft'. Plenty of modern pump clips have been updated, urban graffiti-themed or showing space battles rather than framed by a horseshoe with a ploughman leading a Shire horse and fuddy-duddy names like Arkwright's Dalesman Bitter eschewed in favour of the the likes of Hophead, Naked Ladies, Green Devil or White Dwarf.

In the main Guinness drinkers are Guinness drinkers full stop, can't see them going cask.

If passing through London and you're after the stuff, the above was drunk at the Cittie of York yesterday; possibly available too at the nearby Ye Old Cheshire Cheese and Princess Louise.

Yes for Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (last week) and at The Duke of York, Victoria (today).
