This was a significant development for Marston’s,
allowing management to bring focus to a pubs
estate which has struggled to fully recover in the
wake of the pandemic and improve a balance

The net proceeds of £202 million will allow for a
significant debt paydown which accelerates the
timeframe for achieving the group’s medium-term
target of reducing net debt below £1 billion.
Effective net debt is reduced to around £959
million which is anticipated to save around £18
    million in annual interest payments.

Net debt of £959 million? How do they sleep at night!

No wonder they can't concentrate on the beer...

Whose debt is it really? Everyone in the company will be earning a wage regardless. It's between the banks and pension funds really.

A friend sent me this, the author is evidently looking for the antithesis of the pubs we seek...
It's apparently about the rather good Totally Tapped, in Beeston
    TT.jpg

Sorry, not a good image, see narrative below:
"Looked ok from outside. Too many unknown beers to choose from once inside though. No Stella, Kronenberg (sic) etc or any popular global beer. We stayed for one pint and left for a proper pub that does well known beers. Bit of a hippy/trendy crowd too which wasn't impressive. Also bar man far too enthusiastic and excited about selection of beers"

    Hahaha... ;0)

Wow! This is the difference between people who are led by marketing, and the people who like to find out for themselves.

The "trendy crowd" are the ones who try something different, while the sensible chap who leaves after one, in the absence of "popular global beer" is ... not trendy.
