This is the Durham Marriott Hotel rather than a pub. Delete?

I think this topic was previously discussed at some length. Large national and international hotels often have bars that are open to the public and although not an ideal drinking experience do provide a service in what would sometimes be an otherwise dry area. On that basis it was felt they should be included. That was certainly my take when tidying up Leeds a while ago. Personally, I wouldn't be heartbroken if they were all deleted, but I went along with common concensus at the time.

Certainly John T's bar at the Leeds Marriott should stay on. People go in there from Boar Lane and don't even realise it's a hotel.

That's not true of the Durham one though.

There's no separate entrance to the bar, you have to go through reception or The County restaurant.

I've stayed here a couple of times and whilst I suspect that if you went to the bar they would serve you, I've never seen anyone do it unless they were eating in the restaurant or staying in the hotel.

I wouldn't be too distraught if you decided to leave it on though.

I'm afraid pubs are called what they are, whether we like their given name or not in my opinion. Sorry.

More to the point someone else felt it was enough of a pub to leave a picture, and I prefer to try and respect all contributions on the site.
