It was nice to meet up with the earlier arrivals in the Salopian bar and Alan H in the nearby JDW. This had a very poor choice of festival ales. I made it to the Three Fishes by 15:00 but not realising it was so far down the list, probably leaving before the main group arrived. I immediately recognised it as one I had been to before around 20 years ago.
I've another stay in Shrewsbury next January when an extended visit to the Prince Of Wales will be the priority.

Some photos from Friday, but no group photo! Really enjoyed the day and great seeing everyone again

    Yes.

And well done to Will for creating such a wonderful and varied route - a great crowd and another fine day of Puggery!

No, no, no!!! It was a team effort, with splinter groups going off in all directions and ending up in the wrong Wheatsheaf on purpose. You're just trying to wind me up, aren't you?

And not forgetting Oggwyn, to whose health we drank in the Nags Head. Hope to see you again soon, Oggy.

    Default Some photos

Two shots of the backs of people's heads in the Nags Head, and two at the Loggerheads, one inside and one in the rain. (I wasn't going to hang around out there waiting for everyone else, so that's the nearest we got to a group photo.)

I checked the PUG crawl history today and apparently next year is the 10th anniversary of the PUG crawls so assuming the South, North and Midland pattern is maintained it should by rights be Brum next Autumn. My only problem with this is that it will bypass all the pointless PUG geography issues!

I was amused to learn that a new turn of phrase has been invented and that's an Aqualung mile. Roughly speaking, a five minute walk is an Aqualung mile although hills or even worse steps could vary this.

A very enjoyable day, despite the occasional bit of weather, and good to see everybody of course. Of particular note is that, despite going for local ales for preference, I managed to have a different brew in every pub (15), so quite happy with Shrewsbury. Shame I couldn't stay for the last couple but, with the assistance of a handy bus, I made my train with sufficient time to pop in one opposite the station!

    A few random pictures:

On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
