Dan Griffin's rambling but lustrously-worded review of the Pig & Fiddle made me smile just now.

Very good... what a shame he didn't continue to enlighten us about the other joys of Bath.

A nice few from the 'Boy from the Baum' - having popped into a couple of Wolverhampton places the other day - which i had not been in for a number of years, i notice they had been CAMRA'd - i do wish Mr C would say what he means in stead of beating about the bush!

"It actually seems to attract a clientele that find the Wetherspoons a bit posh" (the old Goose in the City)

"The barmaid finished serving a person at the other end of the bar and then went back to reading her paper. After a couple of strategic coughs she looked up and then started reading again. I thought bollocks to this and left. I suspect the beer was crap anyway. It's a desperate dive, don't go in." (New Inn)

"It's shabby on the outside and the inside isn't much better. There is no cask ale at this pub any longer, in fact on my visit they didn't even have any keg ale. The only option available was lager, so I left. This area of Wolverhampton is full of bad pubs, this isn't even one of the worst, but it is still crap. It won't be around much longer on this showing anyway and it won't be any kind of loss." (Plough & Harrow)

I'm somewhat surprised that the New Inn and the Plough And Harrow are still surviving.

    Have they changed at all?

The P & H - not really, only it does have the keg ales on now (MILD) - i must have gone in around the time you did, as i remember there was no beer then!

The New Inn is sheduled for a visit on the next drop in to Wolvo - it was pretty dire the last time i was in, but i still think it is open
