    Default Bottle Shop, Canterbury

Should this place be added to the site? I say yes, but I'll open it up for debate.

I dont agree with it being added to the site.

If this does go on the site it will probably open the floodgates for any off licence that sells bottled beers, or even supermarkets as some of these have a decent choice of bottled beers.
I have already had a rant about this in the past and i still feel the same about it now, but no doubt most forum users will not agree with my feelings on this subject.

It's got an on-licence and acts as a bar so I' d include it. I'd also like to see listings of specialist beer oriented off-licences or farm/brewery shops, either on the main site or as a thread on the forums.I for one don't go to the pub as much as I'd like, so on my travels I tend to stock up on quality beer to drink at home.

I think that the license to consume alcohol on the premises distinguishes this place from an off license or supermarket. If this was just a speciality off license I would agree that it should not be included.

The beauty of this site is that it doesn't allow the floodgates to open and can distinguish between a bog standard off license and an interseting bottle shop that allows folk to consume their products in the premesis.

I've reviewed numerous crappy bars and pseudo-restaurants, already listed on PuG, that only offer bottled beer - why not list a bottle shop that does the same, but with a more interesting selection than the usual San Miguel/ Becks/ Budweiser suspects.

I sympathise with the view that the site should only list 'pubs', and get annoyed with the restaurant and night-club listings already on here, but I can only see positives in lisitng places that clearly have wider appeal amongst those actively using this site.

What a fantastic place, excellent beer list which you can enjoy on the premises, six types of scotch eggs, pork pies and a cheese snack snaffled from Bruges Beertie. It qualifies for an entry far more than a lot of the "bars" we allow so get it on here I say.

Perhaps a Kent PG meet-up would be a good idea

I apologize for that reply Strongers,

As soon as i saw Bottle Shop the red mist decended upon me and i went into rant mode yet again,if there is a seperate room to try drinks in then i am not against it as much as i was before.
I think that Pubsignman has got it right on his reply to this thread and i will go along with his views on this subject.

But i do still stand by my feelings that this is a PUB SITE.

Yes I think it should be included as its clearly a Bar as well as a bottle shop and looking though the site it seems a very interesting place with a good selection of Bottled Beers.

My first reaction to another potential debate on what to include on the site was to run for the hills However, having slept on it, I think on balance it's worthy of inclusion (just).
