Interesting example, her review doesn't bother me that much (although it does leave me wondering about the usefullness of the 'is this review helpful' buttons), but as you say is made completely redundant by the lack of review of a pub she liked. As you say, reads as an agenda of some sort.

Time to 'fess up. I've only ever used them in a negative tit-for-tat retaliation, when someone didn't like my review and I didn't agree with theirs. I suspect I'm not alone.

    I wouldn't do that !!!!!!!!!

Apart from that woman's review of the The Jubilee Refreshment Rooms of course.

I don't think you are alone. I would like to see whether it works with more people on site as it seems like a good idea on Amazon. It may just be a rubbish idea here though.

I may have used them a couple of times to reciprocate a thumbs up - a bit of back patting!

I think they'd be useful if everyone used them, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've used them a few times to highlight a particularly good review - more often than not from one of the 'regulars' on here. Haven't needed to use it for a poor review yet.

If you give this type of feedback, does the reviewer get a notification in some way?

No, and it is supposed to be anonymous, although as is apparent all to often it is obvious.

It is not intended to be inflammatory, although it does seem to be going a bit awry. If anyone has any thoughts on it feel free to kick off a new thread in technical.

I used it a few times, helps to find a decent pub in a new town, and avoid the bad uns, if you know the reviewer is honest sort of person

    This one annoyed me.

She flags my review as not useful, slags off the pub (for being too clean )and then compliments a similar place in Dewsbury but then doesn't review it.

I suspect this woman has a hidden agenda.
I like the idea that giving her a warm bottle of Lindeboom makes her exceptionally quiet - maybe I'll try that on Mrs A.
