Ten new branches in the pipeline, supposedly. Whether that is net or gross is unclear

All the Somerset Wetherspoons rated...

'Beer is for all day, not just for breakfast'.
My overriding recollection of Somerset Spoons is that a lot of them weren't that great. In Somerset you have the additional problem of cider being a popular drink and being sold much cheaper than other parts of the UK. I don't mind drinking it if the beer choice is poor.
The perception of a Spoons depends on so many things, the time of year, the day visited, the time visited and whether you go there to eat, drink or both. I'm sure many of the complaints about beer quality on this site are down to getting the first one of the day. You don't generally get dirty tables if you go into one before 10:00am on a weekday.
Going by my scores my top three ones were Portishead, the Pukin Welbeck in Taunton and the Cabot's Court in Weston where I stayed.
The lowest with scores of just 2 were the Wellington one and the Dragon's Inn in Weston where the beer I was served was rank.
I only had a very brief stop a the Coal Orchard which I gave a 5 to.
I thought Bristol was now in Somerset!
It's in the West Of England Combined Authority. As are bits of what were in Avon, Gloucestershire and Somerset.
I expect some Bristol people of a certain age put Gloucestershire in their addresses like Croydon people put Surrey, a sort of weird geographical virtue signalling. Doubtless they blame the EU.
Cool a list that I've been in all of them.
Gloucestershire for Bristol as a resident I would say is North of the River and South is Somerset.
Doubtful, if they're old enough to include the ceremonial county in their address they will be old enough to blame Harold Wilson in 1965/1969 or Ted Heath and Peter Walker in 1973 .
Countys have been redundant in addresses for years as far as the Post Office is concerned and local authority changes are merely attempts to disadvantage the opposition (gerrymandering) and the names a sop to the egos of small minded politicians.
