"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
Nice idea.
I've just checked the stats on this forum: there are 44 "active members", which I assume means more than just breathing in and out; maybe occasionally walking up and down and perhaps going down the pub from time to time. If each of us chose our top 10 and then we had a poll (at 14 pubs per poll!), it would take about 10 million years to come up with a top 100 - never mind a top 10.
Come On You Hatters!
I think it would be a better idea to challenge everyone to publish on the forum their own top 10 pubs of all time with no obligatory comment or justification and most definitely no discussion or arguments about the choices.
This would be a separate thread from the top beers or pubs of the year and the worst pub.
As with all these lists it would be totally irrelevant!
Hmm,what is "cosy"? In most of the draughty rural houses I tend to frequent, the only cosy spot is in front of the fire:roasted on one side, frozen the other.Don't even mention the distressed furniture. The Three Chimneys I'm thinking of you, though in fairness, the chairs in the wonderful public bar are verifiably old and grotty.Anyway, I've dried -off now:back out to get damp again.
