A pub is for life not just for Christmas

I'm going a bit off piste this time with a Southern regional brewery tied house. It's Ye Olde Stout House in Horsham. It's owned by Hall and Woodhouse but is still defiantly externally branded as King & Barnes. It was never originally my favourite K&B outlet in Horsham but had achieved that status by the mid to late 1980s. What's promoted into the POTM arena is the fact that they now do Welton beers as guests. It's a drinker's town pub rather than a food orientated one or a trendy bar. I didn't speak to the landlord but got the impression that he was fully aware of the history of the pub.

Easy choice this month: POTM Drayman's Son in Ely.
Possibly POTY for me.

September has been a quiet month for pubs for me, but of the few I visited I would suggest The Fox Hole would be my Pub Of The Month. Local / regional brewers tend to dominate the pumps (I have never seen a Doom Bar in here!) and the quality is always spot on.
Golden Fleece was also a contender but the beer I had in here on my September visit was not quite up to the same standard as it had been on my previous visit earlier in the year (for the same drink).
However, both are very different pubs and both worth a visit.
The Paul Pry
An old favourite visited at the beginning of the month and a bonus as my son bought me a pint for the first time ever (he is 25 by the way)
Was in there last Wednesday, lovely pub but found the beer a bit tired.

The Vinyl Tap, Preston. Probably on my last trip back there for a year or two...
