A pub is for life not just for Christmas
The Four Candles Alehouse
Very hard to choose from my micropub tour of Broadstairs/Margate, as there's just so many good ones - all 'proper' micros. The above stood out with a great selection of ales, and a friendly bunch of fellow drinkers, making it very hard to leave

The Bailiff’s Tap in Banbury by some way. http://https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/85595/
Good beer, interesting company and a characterful governor. All the right ingredients for a top micro pub.

I don't often nominate a pub in the South but if you get far enough away from London there are possibilities. I'm going for the Star in Crowlas home of the Penzance brewery. They are an old school brewery but I enjoyed the beers. The 8 score looks stingy to me in hindsight so I may well up it.

I only paid a brief visit during the NuL crawl but made a mental note to return and spend a lot longer in here next time.I have a soft spot for traditional pubs revived by a team who love their ale.

A very pleasant trip was taken to York and of course it's the law that when in York you have to go to The Blue Bell. If pressed this is the pub where I could spend all of what's left of my drinking time.
The Alfred Free House A great locals pub that has different beers for the area and almost with out fail in the best condition.
Some self promotion
