If it was barrel aged in a rum barrel it would pick up the rum flavour and sometimes it would increase the strength of the brew.Sometimes the brewery increase the strength of the beer they put in the barrel as it keeps better when stored for a long time.They( as far as I am aware) are not allowed at the brewery to add bottles of rum.The landlord can if he wants so maybe you got a bargain
The only thing I know for sure that I got was a stonking hangover!!
Was it 5.5% or 7.5%?? We will never know but it was an unforgettable beer!
