A pub is for life not just for Christmas
Poor week ,saved by the footie.
Orkney -- Dark Island *
Oakham -- Scarlet Macaw *
Dark Star -- Summer Meltdown *
BOTW goes to Oakham Scarlet Macaw in fine nick in The George.
Another quiet week likely.............

Very quiet week, the coming one will be similar.
Darkstar - Hophead
Goff's - Tournament
Downland - Route Thirteen
New beer ,brewery and pub to me provided the BOTW, Downland - Route Thirteen , a very nice 3.6 session Pale Ale.

A very poor week for me with a visit to Gravesend on Friday, I expect better things next week :-
Dark Star Hophead 3.8%
Celt Experience Dark Age 4.0%
Bexley Bob 4.2%
Marston's South Pacific Red 4.2%
Ilkley Olicana Pale 4.4%
Caledonian Nogne O Asian Pale Ale 4.5%
Moorhouse Farm House 4.6%
Kent Enigma 5.5%
Gadd's Faithful Dogbolter Porter 5.6%
Kent Rum Enigma 7.5%?
The winner is the Kent Rum Enigma, a rum barrel aged Black IPA which was £3.50 in the Crown & Thistle in Gravesend. They had marked the clip as 7.5% but I don't see how that can be. The woman behind the bar said they had poured bottles of rum into it but if that was the case surely it would be in a different duty class? I was surprised not to be able to find ANY reference to this beer online.
Honourable mention must go to the Gadd's Dogbolter which tasted just as I remember it from the Firkin pub chain days, mostly in the Pheasant & Firkin in Goswell Road.

Blue Bee American 5 Hop Version II tried in The Healey Hotel for a change.

Attachment 1202, tried in the Grove, Huddersfield
If it was barrel aged in a rum barrel it would pick up the rum flavour and sometimes it would increase the strength of the brew.Sometimes the brewery increase the strength of the beer they put in the barrel as it keeps better when stored for a long time. They( as far as I am aware) are not allowed at the brewery to add bottles of rum.The landlord can if he wants so maybe you got a bargain
