Hopefully some good pubs to be visited this month.
A trip to York between Xmas & New Year may throw up an interesting option as I can't see us missing the York Tap.

A pub is for life not just for Christmas
We are in York for 3 nights from 17th, and looking forward to the York Tap too. Not doing very many others this month, so our pub of the month will likely be from York.
Alcohol doesn't solve problems .... but then again, neither does milk.
19 different pubs visited over the weekend and quite a few of these were very nice pubs.
My pub of the month goes to the Chandlers Arms in Shearsby Leicestershire, this is a really nice unaltered pub that had a very good choice of beers on the bar.
This pub is well worth a visit.
I don't think that this one is going to be POTM but it was an interesting place to vist. A new build in the style of an old oast house, hence the name.
The Oast House
It's got more of a chance than this one though. The Alchemist owned by the same company and almost next door.

December has been a month spent in and around London on the pub front, and my POTM is the ever reliable Edgar Wallace.Being a bit of a heathen ,I didn't realise that said Edgar Wallace was a prolific author and creator of King Kong until I happened across a single page history of the pub left on the window cill.Fortunately the publican has avoided the temptation to resort to tacky KK memorabilia, and instead the collection of cigarette adverts from the 50's and 60's are a very interesting and nostalgic form of wall decoration. And of course the ale selection and condition ,together with the swift and friendly bar service make this a pub I always look forward to visiting. Good one to end the year on
Not a vast number to choose from for me but probably the most welcome retreat on a cold days boating with quality ale and a steaming bowl of mussels was The Dove in Hackney. A reliable boozer for real ale and a vast range of Belgian beers in this gentrified East End enclave.

Well as predicted my POTM was indeed York Tap.
A top notch establishment which, if they had had enough staff on Wednesday afternoon may well have got a rare 10.

Came across the Butcher & Beast in a small village near Lincoln over the festive period - one of those great little pubs it's a joy to encounter by pure chance...
