Finding it hard to sleep on a hot summer night, I found myself wondering what pubs in my area I would recommend to a pub lover visiting for the first time.
So for Kent, I came up with this initial list of 10 (compiled on an entirely unscientific basis, and in alphabetical order):
Artillery Arms, Ramsgate http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/16558/
Butchers Arms, Herne http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/64090/
Cock, Luddesdowne http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/16155/
Elephants Head, Hook Green http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53081/
Golding Hop, Plaxtol http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/16772/
Halfway House, Brenchley http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53015/
King George V, Brompton http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/9862/
Queens Arms, Cowden Pound http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/68476/
Red Lion, Snargate http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/59104/
Swan on the Green, West Peckham http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/59087/
I didn't deliberately choose a mixture of town, village and country pubs, but it just turned out that way. They also range from real ale specialists to one that just has a single draught beer of any any sort (Adnams, and famously "Lager not sold here").
With several other Kent residents on the forums, I'm sure there will be other contenders...
