A pub is for life not just for Christmas
A very poor month with too much time wasted exploring Oxford's outer pubs:
The Berkshire
The Britannia
The Cricketers Arms
Donnington Arms
Duke of Monmouth
The Fishes
The Maidenhead
The Old Ship
Prince of Wales
Royal Standard
The Seacourt Bridge
White Horse
Not the highest mark, but the greatest room for quality improvement and despite selling only fizz, POTM goes to The Prince Regent
Beer Merchants Tap.
Maybe a Marmite venue, but it did it for me (as opposed to Marmite).
"Everybody's got to believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer."
-W.C.Fields
The Cock Inn. Traditional country pub.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
Organ Grinder
Over a couple of visits in June, excellent beer quality and range with some charming bar staff.Very good curry house just around the corner too.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Completely agree on the Organ Grinder above, it’s very good but to avoid repetition:
POTM The Cardinals Hat.
Unexpectedly superb with a tremendous selection of great beers.
