A pub is for life not just for Christmas
Dull week with just old favourite BOTW Oakham Bishops Farewell featuring. A top quality fresh barrel saw the 3 pint test demolished.
"Beer is food." Morse, Colin Dexter
A lot going on behind the scenes this week, so limited imbibition, but did manage to break into a mixed 12-bottle case from Blue Monkey that had been sitting around for a month or so, plus a couple of pub visits after a pre-op isolation came to an end (not mine):
Blue Monkey BG Sips (4.0%) (bottle)*
Blue Monkey Primate (4.0%) (bottle)
Portobello JPA (Japanese Pale Ale) (4.2%)
Blue Monkey Infinity IPA (4.6%) (bottle)*
Leighton Buzzard Restoration Ale (4.6%)*
Mikkeller Peter, Pale & Mary (4.6%) (can)
Blue Monkey Ape Ale (5.4%) (bottle)
Blue Monkey Infinity Plus 1 (5.6%) (bottle)
Great though the Blue Monkeys beer were (and are), it was great to get back to cask, so clear winner this week:
BOTW: Leighton Buzzard Restoration Ale

BOTW goes yet again to Five Points Railway Porter in great nick in The Prince. Honorable mention to Five Points Best,at the same venue and also in top condition ,a real winner at a lower ABV and most certainly not a BBB when on that sort of form.
Next week a cheeky trip to Derby and then end month sessions in Hertford and Charing Cross (guess where !).Should get some quality pints.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Kent:
Kent-Black Mirror:4.5%abv.Fine stout,tropical fruit finish.
The Kernel-Brown Ale:5.3% abv.I'm at a loss how to rate this,as I'm not familiar with the style, or really Brewery. Some tartness, caramelised nuttiness.Either way,I enjoyed this, so it is my BOTW.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
A gentle wander down the hill from Saltaire to Shipley provided the beer this week.
Nomadic - Bandit.
Bosun's - King Neptune.
Roosters - Leghorn.
Saltaire - Mayflower.*
Magpie - Raven.
Wilde Child - Primitive Satisfaction.
Brass Castle - Bad Kitty.*
Abbeydale - Arson.
Beespoke - Shipley Stout.
Acorn - Darkness.
Beer quality was pretty good across all six venues visited. However, the Mayflower just had a little more oomph. Sampled in Groove Pad.
'And where he supped the past lived still. And where he sipped the glass brimmed full' John Barleycorn, Carol Ann Duffy.
A decent list aided and abetted by the Kingston Beer Festival,
