A pub is for life not just for Christmas
Lancaster IPA. Drummers Arms, Blackburn.
That town has to be one of the worst I've ever visited, for ale. Wetherspoons was passable, but beyond those two...
Even the food offering was a farce, however we found the Firepit which was exceptional.
Kent:
The Three Legs- Pale (could be #3) 3.7%abv.Crisp,hazy,autumnal fruit, long bitter finish. My BOTW.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.
London beer factory - irish stout was the best of a mediocre bunch .
Bradford.
Vocation -- Heart & Soul *
Salopian -- Charm Assault
Fell -- Tinderbox IPA *
Fell -- Export Stout *
Abbeydale -- Deception
BOTW goes to Fell Export Stout,a 6.5% strong stout in impressive condition in the surprisingly hip Record Cafe.
Next week Grantham,Atherstone and Rugby so more volume likely.
"Good people drink good beer" Hunter S Thompson
Sparse week with just Oakham Bishops Farewell* and BOTW Church End Fallen Angel featuring albeit in satisfying quantities.
"Beer is food." Morse, Colin Dexter
Reasonable week for me, with quite a few dark beers sampled.
4Ts - Elvis Peachley.
Jolly Boys - Jolly Colliers Porter.
Oakham - Citra.
Bridgehouse - Baltic Rum Porter.*
Hops & Dots - Porterhouse 5.
North Riding / Five Towns - Barley Wine.*
Nailmaker - Clout.*
Small World - Long Moor Pale.
Chin Chin - Float On.
Bingley - Centennial.
Great Newsome - Jem's Stout.
Acorn - New English CF-184 IPA.
North Riding - Cascade.
I'm not normally a fan of beers over 5%, but I found the Barley Wine at 8.7% really hit the spot. Rich, smooth and not too sweet. Taken at Henry Boons. It's becoming a bit of a destination spot for fans of stronger beers.
