I've just remembered that in a fit of onanistic vanity I contrived to include the names of all the Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson canonical albums in subsequent reviews from 13 Mar to 17 April 2017. I must have been bored then, so gods (Divinities?) know what I'll do if this flu thing drags on.
'Beer is for all day, not just for breakfast'.
Bit late to this so many faves already mentioned.
Currently featuring in the car and yet to be mentioned, unless I've missed them are:
Human League
Groove Armada
Foster The People
The Farm
Joan Armatrading
Lloyd Cole (and The Commotions)
The 4 Skins
Motorhead
All Saints
"Beer is food." Morse, Colin Dexter
As I finally get myself through these threads.
In no particular order
Cocteau Twins
The Cure (up to and including Wish)
Curve
Deacon Blue (first incarnation)
Joy Division
Lush
Mansun
New Order (up to Republic - Get Ready had three or four strong tracks but the rest was pish. The less said about Sirens, the better)
Pale Saints
Prolapse
Queen
Saint Etienne
Simple Minds (up to Once Upon a Time, then a fairly dramatic drop-off)
Slowdive
The Sundays
Tears for Fears (first incarnation)
Loads of other bands like Bloc Party, ABBA, The Smiths and Stone Roses where I really love a number of individual songs but can't really listen to their general output without wanting to skip a fair number of tracks. There aren't many albums I can listen to in full, life's too short for filler.
Looks like we have a few in common!!
This is the most (in)famous one of the genre, knock yourself out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCq0P509UL4 it has actual songs, though they're all essentially 45rpms played at 33rpm (see track 2 - can you guess the artist?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9L4q-0Pi4E - this one is the 'sonic landscapes' type

Never would have had you down as a punk rocker! Macc Lads are a great band, but I wasn’t sure it was appropriate to mention them in polite company! Recently reformed, I saw them at the O2 Academy in Bristol just before Christmas, having also seem then many years ago in The Bierkeller. I called in to Hectic House in Macclesfield back in the day, only to find Mutley serving behind the counter.
Saw the Pistols on one of their reunion tours a few years ago at the Brixton Academy. My mate who was driving got his car towed and we had to go to the pound somewhere in the back streets around Millwall about 1:00 in the morning.
I was really into prog rock by the time I got to uni,Caravan,Tull,Genesis,Supertramp etc and all students seemed to be playing Dark Side of the Moon,Yes and ELP but during that long hot summer of '76 I first heard the two minute bursts of The Ramones ,then the Pistols and the world changed.John Peel was an influence.
The Macc Lads were of course much later and not suitable for anyone of a nervous disposition.I'm not sure many people got their ironic take on life in Macclesfield.Extremely vulgar but with some pithy insights,a bit like Chaucer.Saw them in Brighton around 87,it certainly was boisterous.
