Went into Real Ale in Golborne Rd in Tris,s neck of the woods and bought 3 x thirds of a 4.6 -5.5-6.3 beers.Shocked to be asked for £8.35.Really expensive beers in the fridge as well. See you soon again is says on my receipt.Norfolk and Chance.
Not at all surprised to be paying heavily in a craft beer bar in the middle of the 02 dome, however the reasoning behind 2/3rd pints dawned on me: £5.50 for 2/3rds sounded much less painful than £8.20 for a pint, or even £4.10 for a half, despite being equivalent to £8.25 per pint. The beer incidentally was Canopy Brockwell IPA, which despite not being an IPA was a quite drinkable Citra-based brew, if you don't mind something fruity. (and it was of course listed as 5.5 not £5.50!).
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
Lervig Coconuts £5.50/half in Hope and Union in Stockton. 12.5% and presumably imported so more than acceptable.
Pangolin mentioned he can get 4 pints of Big Smoke beer for £10 result
There are two micros near me where you can still get cask beer. The Owl and Pussycat had last weekend 5 cask,7 keg beers on.Bring your own container they will sanitise.Milk containers accepted. The Dodo micropub had 3 cask and 1 keg .50p for a plastic 2 pint container. So far so good but they are both charging the same price for takeaway as they charged when they were open. OAP wants £ 17.60 for 4 pints of 4.5 beer. The Dodo wants £18.50 for the same. Taking the piss I think.
