I'm not an epidemiologist, so could someone please explain to me why buying takeaway alcohol from a pub might contribute to contagion whereas buying it from a supermarket or garage doesn't?

I'm also not one for conspiracy theories, but is it possible that a supermarket might be funding the Conservative Party (noting that Lord Sainsbury has withdrawn his support to the Labour Party)?

Booking taken at a well known Rochdale hostelry for 6 people last week who are asked if they're from the same household, they confirm that they are.

When they arrive it's 3, thirty something couples. They're asked again that they all live in the same household, they again confirm that they do.

OK says landlord, could you all sign here please?

Why do you want us to do that says one?

Well says landlord "If it turns out that you're not in the same household, which seems likely to me, then we won't get fined £10,000 if the authorities turn up, as you've lied to us".

"They'll fine each of you £200 per person instead".

The group decide that they don't want the table anyway.

    This
may explain things. See the bit about "Meeting with family & friends" and the bit about "business and venues".

we are coming up to York tomorrow to meet our son who we haven't seen at all this year, and are prepared to sit outside if we must, or inside on adjacent tables. Wondered which of York's finest will be the best places to go as we want to keep safely to the rules, and have a catch up. We are currently in tier 2 as is York, so reckon we can do that ok.
