The Royal Standard - a lovely description for the interpretation of 'hand pump'.

No mention of such 'entertainments' here. Just about everything else though!
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement

'Shotguns were even being ‘rented out’...', no doubt 'pump-action'?

No wonder it's been shut down.

Default What's rusty and sits outside Canterbury Cathedral...

    Brewed Boy

Thanks Quinno for that graphic image ("... maybe Terry Waite chained to the radiator was in the bogs."). I'll keep an eye out when I visit in a couple of weeks.

Just be lucky I didn't reference Boy George and the Rent Boy when I invoked being chained to a radiator...

Reminds me of a joke doing the rounds at the time:

'How do we know that the Archbishop of Canterbury is on a diet?'

    'He's lost Waite'.

The flatscreen was on showing ITV 4 which was a major negative as it attracted everyones attention to a very shoddy piece of US white trash exploitation TV. God those Yanks are fat.

BF lets rip at The White House

It's amazing what drivel some pubs will inflict on their punters; sometimes I think it's just for staff entertainment. Still, I'd prefer the Fat Yanks show to the rubbish I experienced at The Prince of Wales.

I quite liked Quinno's "[...] young and very nervous Iberian barmaid who looked like she’d lost a bet at the student union the previous week" comment in reviewing the same pub
"Breakneck speed we drown ten pints of bitter"
