    Boring Answer Alert!!!!

Because 'old' is an adjective and therefore on this occasion takes the inflective 'e' as 'trip' is being treated (incorrectly in my view) as a feminine noun, whereas 'trip', as a noun, doesn't require an inflection.

I agree, the 'Ye' should read 'the'. For those who suffer from insomnia, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorn_(letter)

At the time I put this down to him being a few sheets and having trouble focussing.

    But now I wonder ?

My visit was at the end of a long day but it did remind me of The Punch and Judy in the 80's but certainly not in the same league as The Fifth Floor Bar at Harvey Nicks

And now appreciation goes to Quinno for getting the term "Purple Ponce" in a pub review..
Although you may need to rephrase it unless you can defend your assertions of the purple ones personal preferences, as the term is nowadays not as innocent as it was in my schooldays..

Looks like the barman in The Salmon really did upset you...

Hats off to Soup Dragon for tasting all the beers at the Duke Of Edinburgh Hotel despite having a train to catch in half an hour. Most of us are that desperate to get out of Barrow-in-Furness, the station platform is the preferred spot for those vital minutes awaiting the train.
