As CAMRA says: 'This pub is long-term Closed. Licence revoked following multiple failures', John Smith's Extra Cold presumably being one of them.

"The barmaid was the spitting image of Meg Griffin, even down to the hat, meaning I wondered if it was a Family Guy theme night – it wasn’t."

Another ETA classic. I can just picture it!

And another from ETA's review of the The Old Crown

"Walking in, there was an aroma of boiled cabbage and stale sweat, and it was a relief when someone farted, which was like an air freshener by comparison."

Mr Larter being a tad unhappy with his visit to The Singing Chocker

The football match turned out to be one of the worst games I've ever seen, but I had a much better time there than I did here.

A nice riposte here from the late Alan Winfield, replying to a review by adam bell in which he seems to have run out of punctuation, with catastrophic consequences.

    The Boy & Barrel, Mexborough:

adam bell (11th August 2011) "A selection of Samuel Smiths beers available on draught, friendly barmaid however sadly dead when visited."

Alan Winfield (6th July 2013) "There were no Samuels Smiths beers on the bar and the barmaid was alive on my visit."

    Priceless.

Newspapers also sometimes muddy the headlines through lack of punctuation. I remember not that long ago seeing a headline which should have read: Doctor, who murdered wife, gets life. Without the punctuation it read: Doctor Who Murdered Wife Gets Life.

    One from the Other Side

"I got asked to leave this pub once because I took one of the books off a bookshelf and started to read it. I think the manager must have thought I was showing off."
