His parting shot's good as well.
"At that moment I would have given a kingdom, not for champagne or hock and soda, or hot coffee but for a glass of beer" Marquess Curzon of Kedlestone, Viceroy of India.

Perhaps PB hasn't heard of Viz - from Cambridge's Pint Shop...

"While in the pub I overheard an expression I had not heard before, from a woman who should possibly be referred to as some kind of trendy craft-keg beer snob, who was talking about "real-ale tw*ts". A bit harsh...but then again, I can think of a few!"

Has she appeared in "Modern Parents" or "The Critics"? What happened to those columns?

I can build a vision of what it is like in The Boy & Barrel quite easily...

I've always enjoyed the below from the 'Other' side...

"I'm often irritated by reviews here that sound like they would be read by Stephen Fry with an arched eyebrow. Full of phrases like 'we found ourselves in need of further libation' and 'we took the landlords blush nose as an unmistakeable invitation to imbibe'. They inform us of nothing."

Fortunately, they're still getting plenty of AF36 and hoppyal, so every cloud...

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, someone who is possibly connected with the new management team at The Black Cock in Walsall is flattering Soup Dragon something rotten in the latest review of the pub, with whole chunks of his style copied almost verbatim from his old review. It's especially heart-warming to see his catch-phrase "usual tap stuff" in use once more.
