Hats off to Soup Dragon for tasting all the beers at the Duke Of Edinburgh Hotel despite having a train to catch in half an hour. Most of us are that desperate to get out of Barrow-in-Furness, the station platform is the preferred spot for those vital minutes awaiting the train.

The guy serving actually said i could sample them, but after watching Barrow play, a sample was not enough. Mrs Soup dropped me off at the game with 10 mins to spare, in the pouring rain - i then had to catch a train around to Millom, where the digs were - i hadn't had a drink all day and didnt think i was going to get another - hence the speed - however, it isn't big and it isn't clever - but who cares! oh! the Liverpool one was a sample - he told me it was vile, and it truely was!

As a Sunderland fan, the comment about the game with Villa going down for posterity was a bit over the top!! Not to worry though, these things happen.
I too love to pop in when we are down there. It is one to have a sneaky look upstairs if the bar is closed. Best to visit early in the day when you can wander round ok.

it is only a 1950s pub, older of course as a building - sorry about the Sunderland thing - put it down to a huge sigh of relief after a needed win - Delboy knows what i mean!
