Can I put in a request for Wadworths Henry's IPA to go into the Bad category, it currently resides in "good" and at 3.6 hardly an IPA and it is not good.

I have to agree, I thought I had nominated this in the past as such, but obviously not, must have been a bad beer of the week some when, poor anyway.

    Updated for the above.

I'll also put forward Poppylands East Coast IPA for the Good at 6.8%. This really is excellent and I tried the bottled version. I suspect on draught it may be a contender for A&H's F*****g Brilliant.

I don't often drink IPAs as I find them either too strong or too citrussy. However, I thought I'd give this one a go when I was in the University Arms tonight: it was completely tasteless and gave no impression of being high in alcohol either.* It could have been any bland, blonde session beer, not at all bitter but with a slight after-taste of sherbet. I'm not sure I would categorise it as Bad, though (it was perfectly drinkable), so how about a new category:

    The Bland

Hooded Ram Little King Louis IPA 6.0%

    * I had a couple of pints of stout beforehand - nothing excessively tasty, though.

Williams -caeser augustus (its a lager imo)
roosters -fort smith (its a golden /blonde beer imo)
sierra nev -torpedo ipa (in both great and shit lists imo one of the great ipa,s but I don't vote on ipa,s so it doesn't matter what I think.

My Indifferent category didn't come to fruition, L.C didn't like the idea anyway, so don't hold your breath. I reckon Bland is bad anyway IMO.

I guess you're right. If an IPA isn't in your face, it's a poor attempt at an IPA, is it?

    Along those lines I think.

I'm not too fussed about bad or good catagories-One man's meat ect, but as the one who condemned Sierra Nevada Torpedo to the naughty step, I'd like to reconsider. Nothing wrong with it,except it was, to my taste, undrinkably bitter, and that's going some. I haven't gone back to it,perhaps if I did, I would enjoy it.
I don't often come across IPAs in my travels, but today I drank and enjoyed Curious IPA from Chapel Down (a sucessful and expanding Kent vineyard and winery.) This was contract brewed at Hepworth's in Horsham ,though the word is that they will brew at their home in Smallhythe. Not overly hoppy, but with a good earthy quality, and a long berry fruit finish.Shock horror,it was served on keg-a first for me.
The "fizz" from the keg was noticeable, and I would have prefered it from the cask, but it was very drinkable.

Updated both above with the King Louis IPA in the Bad category as SH and MD concluded.

Had a pint of XT 15 yesterday, described as an English IPA ,triple hopped with new English hop variety's, only 4.5% and not very in your face but a pleasant drink anyway, I'm not sure its a real IPA but thats how its named and wasnt bad, so I guess it should go in the good.
