My favourite IPA's from this year have been:

    Buxton Axe Edge Double IPA
    Summer Wine Diablo IPA
    Redemption Big Chief

I'll also second PaulOfHorsham's nomination of Kernel Simcoe (although I was fortunate enough to find the cask version - a rarity for Kernel beers) - this will almost certainly be my Beer of the Year.

The new beer from Thornbridge Seaforth IPA is excellent.

It's the same basic recipe & ABV as Jaipur but they use different hops.

    Another dangerous one.

I don't see many of these super/"American" IPA's-I suppose I don't get out enough. They all seem to be too "strong" for a regular session-bit like spending the night with Fuller's ESB!
Here's a cuople of "old style "IPA's that I know and love, though the style gurus would debate their right to be called IPA: Hopdeamon Skrimshander and Old Dairy Blue Top. Two cracking beers whatever they are described as.

Another one tried this week - Tring XL IPA. An easy drink at 6% but lacking in depth and flavour and with an odd aftertaste so I'm afraid it has to be bad.

A lot there that I've never heard of but will certainly look out for.

    Any found in Nottingham?

I wouldn't agree about the Tring XL IPA being put in the bad bracket. I had a pint a few weeks ago and thought it was really good. It was actually bewed especially for CAMRA's 40th (XL) anniversary. Similarly with Brains IPA, not sure it should be in the bad category. I'm more in favour of strong hoppy IPA's but I had a couple of pints of Brains last night and enjoyed them. Only 3.4% I think but a good session beer. I guess this all comes down to personal taste, and maybe how the beer has been kept when you encounter it.

I'd add Acorn Santiam IPA to the good list, having had an excellent pint of it on Tuesday in the Devonshire Cat in Sheffield

Glad you enjoyed Sheffield, you must have had a good time but it may have been on Ossett's Santiam

which I agree is a damn fine pint and as good as some of the Acorn beers which you can't say for all the Ossett range.

Don't want to be pedantic* 'ob', but there's no reason why it couldn't have been Acorn Santiam, as it's been available since mid-October:
