Is this rhyming slang? I'll bet there are some republicans out there who'd love to give their pub this name.

There are only a handful named "Queen Elizabeth"

I'd bet there will be a few more soon.

i can remember when this pub changed it's name from the Prince to the Princess of Wales after the accident. Not sure if the now King was too pleased with this, but he wasn't a local at the time.

The Duke of York has an officially approved royal portrait on the corner splay and sign; not sure if anyone is too pleased.

A not-too-dissimilar name-change occurred at this pub near me, circa late-1997.

https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31704/ Despite being a modern conversion dating from the 1980s, until a couple of years ago this was the pub sign.

Queen Elizabeth 1st apparently ruled that inns should not portray living monarchs during their lifetime after being unimpressed by her own portrait on the sign of an inn she had to take lodgings at - the rule has generally been kept through the centuries, so while we may see a rise in QE2 pubs, not too many are likely to take on KC3 portraiture for the duration of his reign.
