I have a friend who lives in Denmark, where a similar scheme has run for years, and some supermarkets even have automatic crateful's of bottles return machines. It will be interesting to see just how the Scottish Borders manages though, or I can see border raids on English bottle banks becoming common!
On leaving the bar, I felt a strong blow to the back of my head. Turning round, I discovered it was the pavement
You change the barcode to detect origin. I found this out on Europe road trip thinking I could cash in on bottles of pop drunk around Europe on way home in Germany where you pay fee and cash out. Yeah it doesn't work so I just put them all in my recycling tub when I got home.
There was massive organised crime gang that led to this and bought about changes, you could of course still replicate a country origin label to try and fool the machine.

Not exactly bargain beer but my local M &S has removed all but 6 of the British bottled beers they sell and stocked up with craft beer tins. This is a further sign that craft beer(whether you like it or not ) is making big inroads against the regional brewers who usually sell to Marks.
I don't know if this is national but my local Tesco is knocking out tins of Crate IPA, Pale and Session IPA for 50p. I make that 0.86p,a pint.
We ought to have a rook you hollow alert thread. I spotted tins of Guinness at an astonishing £4 a pop in M&S this morning. Someone must buy them.
