Default London Meet Up - Leytonstone

A London get together was discussed on this thread: http://forums.pubsgalore.co.uk/showt...r-closes/page3

The idea is to visit the newly restored and reopened Red Lion in Leytonstone for their beer festival which is running for two weeks from 10th October.

A few people have said they would be available for a meet up during the second week of the festival (w/c 17th October), so it would be good if we could firm up a date and entice a few more of you along. The pub is close to Leytonstone tube station, which is a 15 minute or so ride from Liverpool St on the Central Line. There are a couple of other pubs nearby including a JDW and the GBG listed North Star.

I'm free on the 18th, 19th and 20th and could probably make the 17th as well, but I wouldn't be able to commit to that until nearer the time.

    Anyone else fancy it?

My last 3 days holiday entitlement for this year start on the 19th.... Which is kind of handy.

I'll open up an A-Z or Bing Maps in a moment, but the Brodies pub (King William IV, I think it's called?) is in the neighbourhood, is it not?

This is it... According to Google maps, it's a 15 minute bus ride (Kirkdale Road (Stop M): 257; alight at Lea Bridge Road Bakers Arms (Stop ND)). Or you could walk (10 mins?) to Leytonstone High Road and catch a train to Leyton Midland Road, then walk again (10 mins?). Walking door to door is about 40 minutes.

I'd be more interested in taking in just these two than doing the JDW and North Star, GBG listed or not! Anyone got views on meeting in either King William or Red Lion first?

Now then, I'd like to come to this but there's a (hopefully!) distinct possibility I will have an interview the following day. I've been meaning to get out to East London for a while so if I cannot make it, I will follow your antics with interest and re-create the route myself over Xmas!

TfL reckon I can walk between the Red Lion & King Billy in 25 minutes (I told them I was a quick walker). I'm keen to give the King William a try-out, having had a few (but by no means enough) Brodies ales and liking the look of their line-up.
