Looks like my day coach trip end of October just could find me in more pubs than I had planned. Must be strong, get photos & touristy bits first, but it may just rain. Does it rain in York at the end of October ?

yeah the cold white type. You'll also need several days to do justice to the pubs there.

Haven't been to Volunteer. It is the new one taken over by the owners of the Swan and Slip Inn so will be a good one. Afraid there is not a lot of time to look round pubs this visit as we are enjoying the festival on York racecourse, and have to go home early to get the stitches out of my shoulder.

Will get a longer visit sorted when the York Tap opens on the station (scaffolding up) , as has been said here earlier, you do need a few days to do the pubs.
